Toto is an American rock band. Formed in 1977, the band features Steve Lukather, David Paich, Joseph Williams, and John Pierce, as well as guitarists Robert “Sput” Searight and Dominique “Xavier” Taplin. The group also includes bassist Warren Ham and drummer Steve Maggiora. The music of Toto can be described as a combination of rock and psychedelic elements. Toto has received a number of awards, including two Grammys.

Toto was founded in 1971 and formed in Los Angeles. In 1986, the band recorded its first album, Kingdom of Desire, which was released in most parts of the world and on Clive Davis’ label Relativity Records in the United States. Toto continued to tour the world, performing at festivals and stadiums and releasing albums. It was their most successful album to date. They have since performed live in over fifty countries. During the ’90s, Toto has been playing concerts on the West Coast and Europe.

In 1990, Toto played at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In the summer of 2010, the band went on a European tour, which benefitted Mike Porcaro. However, the singer had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and was unable to continue performing with the band. As a result, he has not been a part of the band since. Toto has since continued touring with new line-ups and albums.

In the summer of 2010, the band reformed and toured the UK to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album. They were then reunited and toured Europe to raise funds for their late drummer Mike Porcaro. Despite their lengthy break, they celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2017. As part of their 20th anniversary tour, the band announced a prolonged hiatus after the tour in 2019. The band also decided to live stream the concert due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

In the late 1980s, Toto made their debut at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In 1991, Toto released their eponymous debut album. By 1982, they were one of the biggest selling music groups of the era, and their music was featured on many Top 5 lists. In 1992, Toto was joined by David Paich, Steve Porcaro, and Bobby Kimball. The musicians are still active today. Toto has released five albums since their formation.

In addition to their musical contributions to popular culture, Toto also lent their talents to various other industries. They played for notable artists like Michael Jackson and Clive Davis. In 1991, Toto toured Europe and the United States. The band’s debut album, Kingdom of Desire, was released on Columbia Records in most of the world, and on Clive Davis’s Relativity Records label in the United States.
